VAGGELIS STATHOPOULOS

LETTER FROM IMPRISONED COMRADE VAGGELIS STATHOPOULOS

“Mixing me up in the Revolutionary Struggle case is a consequence of my political convictions. I do not condemn any type or method of struggle. My political activity has always taken place in broad daylight.” 12/4/10 Greece
From 10/4/2010 I am accused, together with comrades that I know through my journey in social struggles, by the infamous antiterrorist in regime of violence and psychological war.
My arrest was made like in the movies in Viktwria area by 10-15 people aiming their guns on me, while in fear of any reaction on my part they also mobilized the special forces in the surrounding area. Heavily armed against unarmed. Continue reading

Christoforos Kortesis

A letter from Christoforos Kortesis, an imprisoned comrade

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

30/4

The letter that follows was written in the prison of Corinth by Christoforos Kortesis (one of the 6 arrested anarchists on the “Revolutionary Struggle” case):
On 10th April, 6 people were arrested and taken to the Police Headquaters (GADA). I was one of them. We didn’t know why we were detained, and when we insisted to contact lawyers the cops told us that we couldn’t, because this was a case of adduction. After 56 hours – during which we were not even allowed to contact each other – we were taken to the courts on Evelpidon St.facing the charge of participation in the “Revolutionary Struggle”. The timing of my arrest coincided with the prime minister’s announcement (Papandreou) that Greecewill possibly take a loan from the IMF. There is obviously no room left for coincidences here, as is also the case with the police raid in the alleged “Halandri safehouse” and the arrests, by the former ruling party Nea Dimokratia, of comrades only a few days before the elections of 2009. Maria Beraha

Letter from Maria Beraha
On monday 25th of October 10  the special interrogator D.Mokkas sent me “CALL OF ACCUSED” to testify on monday 1st of November “for the punishable act of entering as a member in the terrorist organization named “REVOLUTIONARY STRUGGLE” the same call was also received by Nikos Malapanis, who happens to be our best man…
Kostas Gournas, who together with Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis has taken the political responsibility for participating in the Revolutionary Organization “Revolutionary Struggle” (while their co-accused V.Stathopoulos, S.Nikitopoulos, Ch.Kortesis deny participation), is my partner and father of our two 22month old children.
My partner, after being tortured in gada (greek police h/q), following his arrest, was imprisoned in Trikala prisons. Since october 9th he is on hunger strike in koridallos prisons, together withN.Maziotis (while other prisoners in solidarity deny prison food) demanding the self evident: to remain in athens where his family lives.
Today (28/10/10) he is on the 20th day on hunger strike in critical condition in the hospital with Nikos Maziotis.
A war is going on inside the “walls”, in the attempt of the state to put the imprisoned fighters in a hostage regime with all means. The attempt of extermination of my partner “roams” around the outside of the “walls” as well by trying to put the family in a suffocating psychological shackle.
The pressure that Kostas receives towards the attitude he has kept is clearly vengeful.

Athens: Letter of comrade Kostas Katsenos from Koridallos prisons

UNTIL THE TEARING DOWN OF THE LAST PRISON, NO ONE IS FREE

On April 1st, 2012, I will complete 6 months as undertrial inmate in Koridallos prisons. Currently I am the only prisoner for the Revolutionary Struggle case.
The last two years I have lived in a peculiar hostage status, completely detached from my close environment, without the ability to work, study, communicate and participate in the processes of the political space I affiliate myself with.
A cruel and unjust political and economic system, which is in crisis, is trying through the criminal law to bend every effort of social resistance.
The rationale upon which the prosecution against me was based is totally arbitrary, a product of individual estimates and speculations by the assignees of the ministry of system protection.
On March 27th, at 10.00 in the morning, I am called to appear before the appellate judges’ council [in Athens], in order for the extension or not of my so-called temporary custody to be examined.
Knowing the climate of repression that prevails towards all social fronts, I do not know if I can hope for a positive decision. Either way, I will continue to resist the police and judicial machinations.
We must prevent repression whatever form it may have, and express our practical solidarity with all imprisoned fighters of the class and social war.

Sarantos Nikitopoulos

Anarchist’s Sarantos Nikitopoulos (who is prosecuted for the case of the revolutionary group Epanastatikos Agonas – Revolutionary Struggle) letter from koridallos prison.

Wednesday, June 2, 2010
On April 10, 2010 I was brought (sic)-kidnapped by the anti-terrorism department of the Greek Police. After an unnecessary show attended and conducted by numerous riot squads, undercover cops, emergency patrol, prosecutors, etc., who broke doors (although I surrendered my keys) and found funny ‘finds’ in my home such as anti-authoritarian printed material, romans, political books and many movies, I was sent to the police headquarters in Athens, where for several hours several masked men passed in front of me without answering my question on what I was prosecuted or arrested for, without allowing any communication with my lawyer, and without asking me anything at all. Late in the evening on April 11th, I was notified by the arrest report that I was accused for participating in the organization of Revolutionary Struggle and I was charged with nothing less than the entire criminal code. For the record, although I was arrested, I was not allowed again to contact my lawyers.
All subsequent days, unfolded a spiral of lies based on a shameful reproduction of the climate being cultivated by the police through alleged journalist working as the ‘press office’ of the anti-terrorism department, uncritically reproducing rumors from anonymous police sources, press releases, the police and what is needed anyway for creating a burdensome and ultimately condemnatory climate against any “alleged” … This time it was me. The so called “key man”, “leading member”, “link”, “who escaped the gunfight in Daphne, “the intellectual”, “rebellious, tough” etc. The only thing I was not called is “the mysterious woman”. Journalists worth their wages. A continuation of Goebbels, but sorry I forgot he was a fascist, while now we have “democracy with an iron fist” in the Declaration of our American prime minister Pre-Po.

KOSTAS GOURNAS

LETTER FROM KOSTAS GOURNAS FROM TRIKALA PRISON

 Saturday, July 24, 2010
As a member of Revolutionary Struggle and a political prisoner that continues to fight from inside the prison, i declare that i begin an INDEFINATE HUNGER STRIKE as of today july 23d and untill the demands of comrade Nikos Maziotis. This move is just a minimal debt and duty so i can stand next to the struggle of my two comrades. It is a action of solidarity and struggle for the unconditional right of the prisoners to see their families.
It is selfknown for me that a hunger strike, especially in the summer and with a existing
health problem (low blood pressure), is a prossess that has a personal cost. But it is also selfknown that the struggle and solidarity require always the significance of sacrifice. And its this significance that the revolutionary, the fighter should have rooted deep inside him that promotes the interests of the revolution, of the fight. If your not willing to lose everything, you will never be willing to aquire everything. Continue reading

POLA ROUPA

Letter from the comrade Pola Roupa of July 9, 2010

I am in prison for involvement in Revolutionary Struggle, for which I assume political responsibility. I said in a joint letter with my comrades Nikos Maziotis and Kostas Gourna and I still say we will not stop struggling against the economic and political State even within the prison. I know that my political choice to join Revolutionary Struggle and my attitude from inside jail classifies me as a registered political enemy of the system, a fact which not only I don’t deny but is my choice and honours me.

NIKOS MAZIOTIS

LETTER FROM COMRADE NIKOS MAZIOTIS FROM KORIDALLOS PRISON

 Monday, July 19, 2010

Hunger strike against vengeance.

The treatment that the state reserves for captive rebels and its political enemies is a given. Vengeance, sadism, physical and psychological violence, disrespect for human dignity, indifference about their health, their physical wellbeing, for human life itself.
For the security of the state and power, the deprivation of freedom is above everything, above life itself or “human rights”.
For the officials of the state, the political and economic elite and the rich, “human rights” only concern themselves and those of the same class.
They are not concerned about the people, the poor, the workers, the unemployed, the veterans of work, the immigrants, those who search in the garbage of the local markets to eat.
Neither are they concerned about prisoners – social prisoners, of which the overwhelming majority come from the poor social strata and whose life is worth absolutely nothing to the system-.
And they are not concerned of course about the revolutionaries and political prisoners, for which the system has always pursued their physical and moral annihilation. Continue reading

UPDATE REVOLUTIONARY STRUGGLE” CASE ” INTERRUPTED TO CONTINUE ON OCTOBER 24TH
Outside the court room was were the biggest interest was, in the first meeting of the special terror-court that began to try the case of Revolutionary Struggle in the prisons of Korydallos.
The scene outside the female prisons of Korydallos seemed somehow surreal. Dozens of people waited for their turn in order to enter the court room, where soon would begin an important political trial, while a few dozen meters away, exactly outside the gate of the male prisons, there were exterior guards assembled with a banner and chanting. For a moment we thought that it was a solidarity demonstration!

Madrid: Factual solidarity with the eight comrades who are prosecuted for the Revolutionary Struggle case in Athens

from: contrainfo
Anarchist solidarians in Madrid released two pamphlets which contain translations of summaries of trial sessions in Koridallos women’s prisons and political statements of prosecuted comrades, as well as interventions in the two-day event ‘For the Struggle and the Revolution,’ that was held on June 7-8, 2012 in Athens, and other counter-informative material such as the following poster, wanting to spread the international call for the Revolutionary Struggle case on November 22, 23 and 24, and thus prepare solidarity actions.
All printed material, in Spanish, can be found here.

Terrorism is the lack of basic means of survival, having your wage or pension taken away, your house confiscated by the bank, living among the pollution that kills. Terrorism is living daily with fear of survival. To most of society, the terrorists and criminals are those who govern: the regime’s politicians, the rich, and the privileged castes, which exploit the workers and prosper by simply participating in the economic and political establishment. The enemies of society are those who—after years of stealing, getting rich, and taking advantage of a barbaric and grossly unjust system—are asking us to donate our blood in order to save the life of the regime’s putrid corpse now that the system is going through the biggest crisis in its history.
